Tooth-Brushing Calendar
A DIY template for kids that turns morning and evening tooth brushing into a fun daily routine.
Does brushing teeth sometimes turn into a little negotiation at your house too?
We've put together a simple tooth-brushing calendar that encourages children, through play, to brush their teeth regularly and lets them track their own progress every day.
The Tooth-Brushing Calendar is designed as a DIY activity that you make together first, and which then becomes part of your child's morning and evening routine.
After each brushing, the child takes a tooth out of the pocket and attaches it to the calendar. This way, in a simple way that's easy for children to understand, they can see what they've already done, and at the end of the week you can look together at all 14 collected teeth.
After purchase you receive a PDF with instructions and templates for printing. You make the calendar yourself at home – you do not receive a physical product or materials.
What's included?
- templates for all 7 days of the week
- 14 teeth + 2 spares
- a template for the pocket where the teeth are kept
- a layout diagram of all the elements
- a list of materials you need to make it
- clear step-by-step instructions for making it
- instructions for using the calendar
Why is the calendar useful?
Children find it much easier to accept daily obligations when we turn them into something they can actively take part in.
The calendar encourages the child to:
- brush their teeth regularly morning and evening
- be more independent in their daily routine
- track their own progress
- build healthy habits
- learn through play and participation
Who is it suitable for?
For families who want to:
- turn tooth brushing into a more pleasant routine
- encourage their child toward greater independence
- have less arguing during morning and evening brushing
- motivate their child in a playful and easy-to-understand way
- create something together that they'll then use every day
Recommended age: 3+ with the help of an adult.
How does it work?
After purchase you receive a PDF with instructions and templates, ready for printing.
Print the templates at 100% scale, then use the instructions to make the calendar out of felt, cardstock or thicker cardboard.
Each day of the week has two spots on the calendar – one for morning brushing and one for evening brushing. On Monday you put all 14 teeth away in the pocket, and after each brushing the child takes out one tooth and attaches it to the correct spot.
On Sunday evening you can look at the filled-in calendar together and praise their effort. The goal isn't perfection, but creating a pleasant, repeatable routine.
What do you need to make it?
- dark felt or thicker cardboard for the base
- coloured felt or cardstock for the days of the week
- white felt or cardstock for the teeth
- self-adhesive hook-and-loop dots
- scissors and a marker
- fabric glue or hot glue
All the measurements and templates are included in the PDF, so you can simply trace, cut out and assemble the elements.
